The Electricity Company of Ghana, also known as ECG, has told everyone that they will be turning off the power in some parts of Accra and Tema for two days. This is not because something went wrong. They are doing this on purpose to fix things and make sure the lights stay on better in the future. This kind of work is called planned maintenance.

The power will go off on Tuesday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Each day, the electricity will go off in the morning at 9:00 a.m. and will come back in the evening by 5:00 p.m. In some places, the work will finish earlier, and the lights will be back by 3:00 p.m.

In Greater Accra, the power will go off in places like:

Pokuase Pharmacy

Ayawaso Station

Papase Soldier Line

Bortianor

…and nearby areas.

In Tema, places like:

Community 9 Market

…and nearby areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

ECG says they are sorry for the inconvenience, which means they know it may be difficult for people to be without power, but they are doing this to make things better later on.

They are asking people to get ready, so they are not too affected. For example, you can charge your phones or finish homework early.

If you want more updates, ECG says to check their official website or social media pages.
