UCC final year student, Candy Osei passes on

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Miss Candy Osei Abora, a final-year student who died following a fatal gas explosion on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Her passing was officially confirmed by the Junior Common Room Council (JCRC) of the 32nd Valco Hall, where Candy resided. In a statement released on Tuesday, May 20, the JCRC expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and the entire UCC community.
“Miss Candy was more than just a student—she was a cherished member of our hall, known for her bright spirit and strong academic commitment,” part of the statement read. “Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her.”
While the exact circumstances of the explosion are still unclear, campus authorities have launched an investigation. It has not yet been confirmed whether the incident took place on or off-campus.
Candy is remembered by fellow students as a kind and hardworking individual whose presence will be sorely missed.
