Hajia4Reall to be released today after serving one-year jail term in US for romance scam

Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, popularly known as Hajia 4Reall, is expected to walk free today from a federal detention center in Philadelphia after completing a one-year and one-day prison sentence.
Records from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons confirm that the 32-year-old is due for release on May 22, 2025. Her sentence stemmed from a conviction for conspiracy to receive stolen funds, tied to a West Africa-based cybercrime group known for romance scams and online fraud.
Hajia 4Reall, who gained fame through her Instagram page with over 3.4 million followers, was extradited from the UK to the U.S. in May 2023. She pleaded guilty in February 2024 and was sentenced in June by U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken.
Authorities revealed that she was involved in scamming elderly Americans out of more than $2 million, receiving money under false claims such as helping a fake U.S. soldier or transporting gold. The funds were funneled into U.S. accounts she controlled.
In addition to her prison sentence, she was ordered to forfeit $216,475, repay over $1.3 million in restitution, and serve three years of supervised release. The court has also approved her return to Ghana, where her lawyers say she’s ready to turn a new leaf and make a positive impact.
