Wontumi withdraws petition to review GHS 50m bail conditions

Wontumi withdraws petition to review GHS 50m bail conditions

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi and the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has decided to drop the legal motion he filed against the conditions of his bail.

He had submitted the motion to the High Court in Accra on May 30, 2025, seeking a review or challenge of the terms under which he was granted bail. The court was originally scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday, June 3. However, ahead of that date, Chairman Wontumi chose to withdraw the application, meaning the court will no longer proceed with the hearing.

His decision to withdraw the motion suggests that he may now accept the bail terms or is possibly exploring a different legal route. This move comes amid increased public attention on his legal issues, especially given his prominent role in the NPP and influence in the Ashanti Region.

Although, details of the bail conditions he objected to are not publicly known, the withdrawal ends the immediate court challenge, at least for now. It remains unclear whether future legal action may follow, but for the moment, the matter regarding the bail terms is no longer before the High Court.
