“Mahama: Goldbod Generates $2.7 Billion in Four Months for Ghana’s Gold Sector”

President John Dramani Mahama has highlighted the success of the Goldbod initiative in boosting Ghana’s gold industry.
According to him, the initiative has already had a strong impact, generating an impressive $2.7 billion in revenue between January and April of this year. This revenue came from gold exports managed by both the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) and Goldbod, a key player in the initiative.
President Mahama emphasized that this progress marks a positive shift in Ghana’s gold export landscape, which has long faced challenges such as unregulated mining and loss of revenue through smuggling. By streamlining export processes and ensuring greater oversight through agencies like PMMC and Goldbod, the initiative has helped increase transparency and maximize the country’s earnings from its natural resources.
He also mentioned that the current revenue is only the beginning, expressing confidence that the figures will continue to rise as the year progresses. The growing income from gold exports is expected to strengthen Ghana’s economy, create jobs, and support development projects across the country.
Overall, Mahama’s remarks underline how structured management of resources — especially gold — can lead to sustainable economic benefits when backed by the right policies and oversight.
