Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a 70year old Nigerian Politician who represents the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) was on Wednesday 1st March declared the winner of Nigeria’s Controversial Presidential Elections, as opposition leaders decried the polls as rigged and called for a fresh vote.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Tinubu called for reconciliation.
“I take this opportunity to appeal to my fellow contestants to let us team up together. It is only this nation we have. It is one country and we must build it together,’’ he said in a televised speech.
He added that they had the right to challenge the results in court but said that the lapses in the election “were relatively few in number and were immaterial to affect the outcome of this election.”
“ This is a shining moment in my life. I want to thank my wife for her unflinching support of my political career. Senators should not expect my wife back because she will be my housewife and First Lady,’’ he said.
“I will pay undivided attention to your education. We will be creative. Credit and education loan will be available,” he added.
