In line with its 10-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan, the AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine proudly unveils a state-of-the-art Primary and Junior High School (JHS), fully furnished and ready to serve the Sanso community within the Obuasi Municipality
The Sanso Methodist Primary and JHS is a 9 unit classroom block equipped with all the necessary facilities that complement effective teaching and learning. The facilities include a modern library, computer laboratory, canteen, teachers’ common room, kitchen, and modern washrooms at the cost of GHC4.8m.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Community Relations Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, said the delivery of the facility is a testament to their long term commitment to an improved education standard in mining communities.
The Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Elijah Adansi Bonah, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Adubiase Traditional Area for facilitating the allocation of land for this significant project. He highlighted the substantial benefits accrued by the Obuasi Municipal Assembly through AngloGold Ashanti’s 10-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan, initiated under the auspices of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.”

“Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng, Member of Parliament for Obuasi West, emphasized the importance of facility maintenance. He urged the school administration, parents, students, and the community to collaborate in ensuring the regular upkeep of the newly commissioned school.

The ceremony was graced by the Deputy Education Minister and MP for Assin South, Hon John Ntim Fordjour, the Queen Mother of Adubiasi Traditional Area, Nana Akua Dwum II, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Amankrah Appiah, traditional leaders, and representatives of the Heads of Senior High Schools, staff of AngloGold Ashanti, teachers and students of the Sanso Methodist Primary and JHS among others.
