NPP National Chairman apologizes for UTV invasion

The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ntim, has rendered an apology to the management and ownership of United Television (UTV) in wake of the invasion of the UTV studios by party “foot soldiers”.
Mr. Stephen Ntim apologized on behalf of the leadership of the New Patriotic Party for the perceived disregard for democracy and rights of the media by the actions of the assailants affiliated with the party.

NPP thugs had invaded the Despite Media studios in the Ship House located in Abeka Junction in Accra on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The invaders broke into the studios during the airing of the late-night show, “United Showbiz,” was aired. The thugs claimed they were concerned members of the NPP and have felt that the show had become too political with an agenda against the NPP government and party as a whole.

Ghanaians had expressed their disappointment with the party and worried about the safety of journalists or Ghanaians who dared to criticize the government due to claims of attacks on critics of the government in recent times.
However, the NPP Chairman, Stephen Ntim, stated that the party regrets these recent developments and assured the station that such acts would no more occur as far as the party is concerned.
