Ghanaians have expressed their disappoints made by President Akufo-Addo for his comments during his visit to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage in Mepe located in the Volta Region on Monday, October 16, 2023. The president during his address to the affected community mentioned that he is trying to find solutions to the disaster despite not getting votes from the people during elections.
I came here because Ghanaians are having difficulties and it’s my responsibility to try and help because if it’s a question of counting who votes for me and who doesn’t vote for me, I shouldn’t be here, but that’s not my concern.- President Akufo-Addo

These words have polarized several Ghanaians of which most have deemed the statement very unnecessary since the issue at hand isn’t political or tribal.
Others described the statements as being in poor taste and very egocentric coming from the president because his visit was supposed to give victims of the spillage some hope as well as show some empathy.
People believe that the president’s comments did nothing but portrayed him in a negative manner and spoke bad about him as the leader of the nation
