Two jubilee house military officers among others remanded by Koforidua Court for armed robbery

Four military officers, an immigration officer, and a private security officer have been remanded for armed robbery in Akyem Akanteng in the Eastern Region.

The suspects include Sergeant (Sgt.) Mensah Dominic (stationed at the Jubilee House), Lance Corporal (L/CPL) Tetteh Wayo (stationed at the Jubilee House), L/CPL Nyarko Bernard from ABF Tamale, PTE/ Eric Anim from 11 Mechanised Infantry Battalion in Accra. The others include L.C.O/ Richard Okyere, an immigration officer at the Ministry of Interior, and Kelvin Marfo, a private security person stationed at the 5th Hour Mining Company in Akyem Akwatia.
The prosecutors disclosed that L.C.O Richard Okyere (Immigration Officer) had planned the robbery with a Mitsubishi L200 with registration GS-1116-11.

According to reports, he picked up the two military officers stationed at the Jubilee House and continued to Pokuase to pick the other two military officers before arriving at Asamankese to pick up the private security man all on Friday, November 10, 2023. The made a journey to Akyem Akanteng.

The suspects invaded the home of a cocoa purchasing clerk, Ofori Samuel with rifles and in military uniforms. They had demanded GHC 100,000.00 from the victim. However, the plaintiff explained to the culprits that he did not have such amount of money readily available but offered a 5-gram gold ore from which the assailants could raise 10,000 cedis in cash which they accepted. The complainant quickly reported the incident to the police.

The suspects were apprehended at the Osenase police checkpoint where the police also found two military rifles, Four magazines, 62 rounds of live ammunition, and a helmet in their possession.
The fold ore was also recovered by the police upon interrogation. It was then handed to the Regional CID for further investigations.

The Mitsubishi L200 used by the suspects was also impounded at the Eastern Regional Headquarters.
The suspects face charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit robbery, and robbery. The suspects are reportedly set to appear again in court on 28th November, 2023.
