Man United captain Bruno branded ‘hypocrite’ after his complaints at referee Moss

Bruno Fernandez has been described as a “hypocrite “

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been blasted as a ‘hypocrite’ after his comments on referees last week resurfaced online

The Red Devils skipper erupted with fury after his side were denied a penalty in a 2-0 loss against Tottenham on Saturday.

Fernandes, 28, called on official Jon Moss to apologise and publicly explain the decision.

But social media users found a video of the Portuguese midfielder saying ‘It’s the way the referee sees it’ after Wolves were denied what seemed a clear penalty against United.

And fans quickly took to Twitter to label Fernandes ’embarrassing’ and a ‘clown’ for how quickly he changed his tune.

After the Spurs game, which saw referee Michael Oliver turn down United penalty claims after Alejandro Garnacho’s shot struck Cristian Romero’s arm, he said: ‘You will have to ask him (the referee on why it was not given).

‘They have to start giving interviews after the games so they can explain themselves. It is a clear penalty, no excuses for not seeing, no excuses for VAR not seeing that.

‘Last week they made a big thing on United not having a penalty against (Wolves), I want to see what is going to happen this week, if there is going to be the same show they did last week.

‘I want to see if Jon Moss also comes to apologise to our dressing room like they said they did to the manager of Wolves. I hope he is here and he can come.’

United’s first game of the season was a 1-0 win against Wolves, which saw Erik ten Hag’s men escape with victory.

They secured three points after goalkeeper Andre Onana somehow avoided giving away a spot-kick despite clearly crashing into away striker Sasa Kalajdzic.

When asked about the decision on TV after the match, Fernandes shrugged: ‘Er, I don’t know, it’s the way the referee sees it’.

And supporters are now criticising his apparent double standards.

One said:  wasn’t crying about it last week was you! karma!’, followed by a clown emoji.

A second added: ‘Oh my god! Funny guy’ with a cry-laughing emoji, and another simply posted: ‘He is so embarrassing.’

While one tweeted: ‘I understand complaining about the refs but at least be consistent and (don’t) act like martinez didn’t foul romero in the box,’ referencing United defender Lisandro Martinez’ questionable tackle on Romero at the other end.

A fifth continued: ‘Bruno is a laughing stock when it comes to his opinions on anything other than long passes and set pieces.’

Before another concluded: ‘Yeh what a clown.’
