The Creative Arts Federation of Ghana (CAFOG), the new apex body representing Ghana’s vibrant and diverse creative arts industry, was officially inaugurated on Friday, 6th June 2025, at the VIP Lounge of the National Theatre in Accra.

The occasion was graced by several industry stalwarts and dignitaries. The Special Guest of Honour, Mr. Henry Malm, Managing Director of the National Theatre of Ghana, commended the Federation’s bold step, stating:

“Looking at the caliber of your Governing Board, I am confident you have the human resource to achieve your vision. What you’ve done is historic—uniting the creative arts space was our duty, but you took the lead. Keep going. The government needs you.”

Keynote Address from the President

In a heartfelt address, Mr. Richard Yaw Boateng, the first President of CAFOG, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the establishment of the Federation:

“CAFOG is the unified voice of Ghana’s creative arts sector. It brings together associations, unions, and guilds across seven major creative economic sectors. Though the Federation was formed on 13th May 2020, it took five years of stakeholder engagement to finalize its Governing Board. Today, we have finally arrived.”

The Seven Domains of Ghana’s Creative Industry

CAFOG represents all unions and associations under these seven creative sub-industries:
1. 🎬 Film Industry
2. 🎵 Music Industry
3. 👗 Fashion Industry
4. 🎭 Performing Arts Industry
5. 🎨 Visual Arts Industry
6. ✍️ Literary Arts Industry
7. 📺 Media Industry

Our Vision

The Federation exists to unify, coordinate, and structure Ghana’s creative arts industry into a sustainable and economically impactful sector. As an association, union, and guild-based organization, CAFOG is not centered around individuals, but rather the collective interest of creative industry groups.

Governance Structure

The Federation is led by a Governing Board comprising:
• Three Board Executives (President, Vice President, Secretary General)
• Two Representatives from each of the Seven Domains listed above

Each domain also has its Domain Committee, which includes two representatives from every recognized association, union, or guild within that domain.
