Bawumia’s victory unimpressive and one of the worst by a flagbearer-elect – Sammy Gyamfi

The Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Gyamfi, popularly known as Sammy Gyamfi has described the victory of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as unimpressive and the worst for a flagbearer-elect since the past decade.

Sammy Gyamfi also claimed that the number of votes Dr. Bawumia received were very underwhelming and despite his victory, the votes he received speaks bad about the confidence his party members have in his leadership.

”It is a big shame that, despite the unprecedented vote-buying and personal phone calls to delegates, a significant number of the NPP delegates totaling 74,236 and constituting a whopping 39% voted against his candidature in the just-ended NPP primary. He was totally rejected in two regions (Central and Volta regions) and over 50 Constituencies of his own party. This makes him the first NPP flag-bearer to be elected by less than 62% of valid votes cast since the NPP expanded their electoral college in 2010. This is an embarrassing vote of no confidence in his leadership by almost 40% of delegates in his own party,” he wrote.

The NDC Communications Officer further called Dr. Bawumia a “Pathological Liar”  who is the main cause of Ghana’s economic woes. According to him, Dr. Bawumia went on several rants during opposition about Ghana’s economic downfall under John Dramani Mahama,  however, he has done a lot worse since he became Vice President and Chairman of  Ghana’s Economic Management team.

“This is the man a paltry 61% of NPP delegates have elected as their flag-bearer for the 2024 election; a man bereft of credibility and vision; a man who has proven time and again to be a pathological liar; a comical character whose campaign to be President is based on his ethnicity and religion and not his competence. Ghanaians currently find themselves in a total mess. Hopelessness, recklessness, bankruptcy, hardships, corruption and nepotism define the current state of our nation today. This mess is a product of bad leadership and nothing more,” he added.

He added that John Dramani Mahama is the ideal candidate to lead Ghana out of its probems because he is honest and very experienced unlike Dr. Bawumia. He agaim emphasized that John Dramani Mahama has a better track record as opposed to Dr. Bawumia.

This has intensified the race between NPP and NDC in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
