Mahama Petitioned To Call-Off Committee Investigating Chief Justice

A Ghanaian citizen, Alfred Ababio Kumi, has officially written to President John Dramani Mahama, asking for the immediate dissolution of the five-member committee set up to investigate petitions calling for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.

In his petition, Mr. Kumi raised serious concerns about the conduct of the committee members. He claims that some of their actions amount to violations of proper judicial behavior. According to him, these alleged breaches have cast doubt on the fairness and credibility of the committee’s work.

He believes that the integrity of the investigation has been compromised, making it difficult for the public to trust the outcome of the process. Mr. Kumi is therefore urging the President to disband the committee and ensure that a more impartial and transparent process is followed.

His request adds a new twist to the already sensitive issue surrounding the Chief Justice. As the situation develops, many Ghanaians are watching closely to see how the Presidency will respond. The outcome could have significant implications for public confidence in the country’s judicial system and how high-level accountability is handled in Ghana.
